The YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne strives to connect our Christian Principles in our mission to the work we do every day.
We believe that the Christian Principles are best expressed by loving, caring, and serving all people in the community.
You will see partnerships with local Christian churches and ministries as well as other faith organizations and non-profits to help multiply our cause to strengthen the foundation of our community and help people grow in spirit, mind, and body.
Although the YMCA is not a church, we have some faith-based programming such as bible studies, prayer groups, Financial Peace, curriculum in some of our youth programs, and events throughout the year, like:
Good Friday Breakfast
An annual event for over thirteen years started by our CEO Marty Pastura, this gathering brings together hundreds of people from across the city for a great morning of Christian inspiration, encouragement, and challenge.
This year we enjoyed a delicious breakfast along with an inspiring message by Rev. Charles R. Harrison.
National Day of Prayer
Christians from around the nation gathered for prayer at noon on the first Thursday of May to express their gratitude, share their concerns, and renew their commitment to loving, caring and serving for all.
Throughout our membership branches with the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne, National Day of Prayer gatherings met and prayed for our leaders, families, our nation, and the Y.
This two-hour training is designed to help members think through how to live out their faith at their YMCA branch. Even within Christianity there are different perspectives on what it means to love, care and serve, and it's the same with other faith traditions.
This event, offered several times a year, helps members find ways to focus on what we have in common when it comes to what we believe and how to build up our spirit at the Y.
Father's Day Run-Walk-Ruck
Did you know that many churches and the YMCA helped establish Father's Day in the United States? We partner with Associated Churches to celebrate dads and father-figures in our community through a family-friendly community event, the Father's Day 5K.
Fueling Your Faith Retreat
Each year staff and members are invited to attend a Sunday afternoon retreat at beautiful YMCA Camp Potawotami to be encouraged by a Christian message designed help them grow in their spirit, mind, and body. Click on the image below to register!
