social services
The Y makes strengthening our communities our cause. By offering affordable child care to low- and middle-income families, programming through financial assistance to those who otherwise could not afford it, and by developing intervention programs for at-risk youth and their families, we are helping people in our community every day, regardless what walk of life they come from.
Youth Service Bureau (YSB)
Since 1982, the Youth Service Bureau has been providing help to area schools and families for at-risk, troubled youth. The primary goal of YSB is to provide comprehensive crisis and intervention services to children, youth and families in Allen County.
However, YSB also does much more.
YSB fosters commitment to change by providing insight into problems and realistic solutions. We equip youth and their families with training, resources and support, enabling them to make change, bridge gaps and overcome obstacles.
Financial Assistance
We believe that no one should be turned away due to inability to pay. The YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne is a non-profit organization committed to strengthening the foundations of our community, one child at a time. We offer financial assistance so as to be able to offer our programs to those who need them the most.
To apply for financial assistance, visit the Member Services desk of your local branch. Please bring proof of your total household income when you come to join the YMCA. We need a copy of your most recent tax return and most recent 30 days of pay stubs or proof of unemployment as well as documentation of any other forms of income or assistance. You may fill out a form in a branch or download and print the financial assistance form here. Please contact your local YMCA branch if you have questions about the approval process.
Advocacy
The Y makes strengthening our communities our cause, and is one of the largest community service organizations in the United States. Our goal is to educate and engage elected officials, policymakers, nonprofit and community organizations about the YMCA’s mission, community impact, expertise on youth and family issues and its willingness to work collaboratively to better serve our community.
We know that when we work as one, we can move people and communities forward. That’s why we are committed to providing support to our neighbors and opportunities for kids, adults and families to learn, grow and thrive.
For information on how you can become an advocate for the Y, contact Nicole Liddell, Director of Mission Advancement, at (260) 918-2144. Together, we can have a meaningful and tangible impact in our community.
