Supporting Wellness Together
Participating in the 12-week YMCA Weight Loss Program is a great way to learn how to eat healthier, move more and lose weight. This program offers the tools you need to make the necessary changes in your lifestyle to achieve your wellness goals. This weekly, group-based, one-hour meeting provides a supportive network of others working on similar goals to help when the going gets tough and to celebrate successes along the way. Must be 18 years or older.
Because weight loss is unique to each person, the Y Weight Loss Program focuses on helping individuals identify ways to make small, modest changes to their behavior that fits their personal lifestyle and supports their weight loss goals. This program provides helpful tips and strategies to incorporate nutrition and physical activity into your lifestyle, while also addressing motivation, obstacles, and pitfalls that make losing weight (and keeping it off) such a challenge. Participants meet once per week for 12 weeks for an hour-long session. Each session consists of:
- Introduction to new topics relevant to weight loss
- Topics may include nutrition, physical activity, stress and sleep, positive psychology, goal setting and sustainability.
- Group discussion around successes and challenges
- Goal setting for the upcoming week
