Swimming is a lifelong skill that helps participants build confidence, leading to a healthy, enjoyable lifestyle. ASSOCIATION "TEST, MARK, PROTECT" YOUTH SWIM POLICY:
Beginning January 21, 2013, all youth ages 13 and younger will be required to perform a swim test to determinewhether or not they may swim without a lifejacket or parental supervision.
Any child not swimming next to a parent must take a swim test. The swim test includes a deep water plunge, an endurance swim, treading water for 30 seconds, more swimming and finally ends with a 10 second float on the back.
This test will prove that the swimmer has the ability to swim in water over the head and the ability to support themselves above the water until help arrives if they are in trouble.
Children are marked with a swim band to signify their swimming ability.
Testing and marking is the way we ensure that your children are protected. A swim band shows that they have been tested and marked. If they don't have a swim band, an adult must remain with the child and/or the child must a wear a lifejacket for their protection.

FWCY Sharks Competitive Swim Team
Does your child love to swim? Is he or she ready to take it to the next level? Check out the FWCY Sharks Swim Team! We welcome swimmers of all levels (must be able to swim one length of the pool) on our competitive swim team! We offer level-specific training groups, led by dedicated and experienced coaches, and participate in 2-3 meets per month, both home and away. Gymnastics & Tumbling
Whether just learning to walk and focus on large and small motor skills to the experienced young gymnastic, our gymnastics and tumbling classes give kids the opportunity to play, laugh and enjoy this unique sport! Gymnastics and Tumbling are currently available at Jorgensen Family YMCA, Parkview Family YMCA, Renaissance Pointe YMCA and Whitley County Family YMCA.
Led by experienced lacrosse staff, practice and play this unique sport that is sweeping the country! Offered indoor and outdoor seasonally at: Jorgensen Family YMCA, Parkview Family YMCA.
For decades, martial arts have helped youth learn about their inner strength. Join us for this lifeskill program and kick start your growth, including judo, karate and tae kwon do. Karate is currently available at Jorgensen Family YMCA, Parkview Family YMCA.
Learn to use your head. (And your chest. And your feet. And…) YMCA Youth Soccer lets learn the worldwide favorite game in a fun, noncompetitive environment.
Invented at the Y, this program is instructed by an experienced volleyball staff that helps your child learn and love the game and jump to new heights!
Wrestling is a fun, competitive sport that helps young athletes develop tenacity, persistence and skills that carry over into all parts of their lives. This program teaches its participants valuable skills, including personal accountability, self discipline, and confidence.
