Rock Steady Boxing

Fighting Back Against Parkinson’s Disease

The Whitley County Family YMCA is proud to be a Rock Steady Boxing affiliate! Rock Steady Boxing is a group fitness program for people with Parkinson’s Disease. The boxing-based program has been shown to slow the progression of Parkinson’s Disease, help reduce falls, and improve the overall quality of life of those living with the disease. Rock Steady Boxing uses a scientifically based curriculum designed to address symptoms of Parkinson’s including slow or small movements, imbalance, stiffness, flexed posture and respiratory weakness.

This group class is geared towards all fitness levels and abilities of those with Parkinson’s Disease. No boxing experience is necessary. To join the Whitley County Family YMCA’s Rock Steady Boxing class, an initial assessment will need to be completed by our certified Rock Steady Coach. Contact Lauren Shinneman for more information.
