Our adaptive programs are specifically designed for those with physical, developmental and intellectual disabilities. We provide reasonable accommodations and aim to adapt programs so all individual needs are met. Siblings and peers are encouraged to attend.
Adaptive Sports & Martial Arts
The YMCA offers a variety of adaptive sports, including basketball, baseball, skills & drills, tennis and t-ball.

Adaptive Events & Camps
Come join our adaptive camps and parents night out events! Participants will enjoy planned activities, such as games, arts & crafts, and more! Parents & caregivers enjoy a time of self-care.
Adaptive Art & Dance (Creative Expression)
Participants will engage in therapeutic activities related to art and creative expression. Participants can enjoy adaptive art and dance.

Adaptive Cooking & Wellness
These classes are specifically designed for individuals with physical, developmental and intellectual disabilities to learn healthy recipes and habits for home.
Youth class: Bring the whole family and learn healthy recipes you all can enjoy! This class is offered by the YMCA and University of Saint Francis students.
Teen/adult class: This class is provided in partnership with CASS Housing and FLOW Recreation LLC. This program is supported by a grant from the HEAL Initiative, a partnership of Parkview Health and St. Joseph Community Health Foundation.

Adaptive Swim Lessons & Swim Team
Adaptive swim lessons are designed for participants who have special needs, focusing on basic water skills and water adjustment to help gain confidence in the water and improve kicking and stroking ability. Participants learn to feel more positive about themselves in a safe and relaxed environment that promotes success mixed with fun and play. For those looking for competitive opportunities, we offer an adaptive swim team in partnership with East Allen Special Olympics.

Employment Readiness Partnership
The employment readiness partnership program provides opportunities for individuals with disabilities to gain workplace experience, alongside their job coach (provided by an outside organization). Participants learn skills on the “front lines” in various departments of the YMCA.
